Dajah set for Florida’s Suga Fest
As he walked the red carpet at the BET Awards in June, Dajah said he had no time to check out celebrities at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The Jamaican deejay considered his appearance at that event strategic.
“It give mi good exposure, more links an’ opportunities. People see yuh in a different light,” he said.
Dajah plans to lift his profile even more on August 4 when he performs on Suga Fest at Centennial Park in Fort Myers, Florida. That event, promoted by Suga 95.7 FM, also features Grammy-winner Mykal Rose, A J Brown, Mr Easy, and Round Head.
Based in Hartford, Connecticut, he is currently promoting the songs Move, Ritzy, Designer and Bend Down. Designer is produced by No Landing Music, which is also located in Hartford.
Most of the songs Dajah has recorded over the last nine years are produced by No Landing Music. Those include his debut single
Up And Running and Times A Get Hard.
“Some people say when dem hear my music, dem think is [Vybz] Kartel, but mi have mi own sound,” said Dajah.
Born Lenworth Hyde Jr in Kingston, Dajah’s father Lenworth Sr is considered one of Jamaica’s best soccer players. His younger brother, Jaheel, competed for Jamaica as a hurdler at major meets such as the World Championships and Olympics.
Playing as a midfielder/striker, Dajah took the field in daCosta Cup football for Clarendon College. He represented Tivoli Gardens, Harbour View, and Humble Lion in the National Premier League.
