Westmoreland DJ charged with assaulting woman
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — A Westmoreland disc jockey is facing several charges after allegedly threatening a woman with a gun and physically assaulting her.
Charged with assault at common law, possession of a prohibited weapon, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm is 40-year-old Zavian Briscoe of Red Ground in Negril, Westmoreland.
Reports are that around 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, a woman was walking past Briscoe’s home when he allegedly attacked her and pointed a gun at her.
It is alleged that after pointing the gun at the woman, Briscoe used a metal object to hit her. The woman managed to escape and contacted the police.
Briscoe was subsequently located and arrested. He was formally charged on Friday, July 26. His court date is being arranged.
