Likkle Blessing arranges all things floral and more
A blessing in disguise is how entrepreneur Margott Crumbie views her small enterprise Likkle Blessing 876 Events and Décor which emerged more than five years ago after her love for floral arrangement and decorating became more than passion points.
A teacher by profession, her mastery of application fuelled her drive to turn passion into profits as she moved to develop the business through which she now offers event planning, décor, floral designs and party rentals.
“I started operations out of my love for event planning and decorating after realising that these were things I enjoyed doing — even while pursing my day-to-day job teaching early childhood. So, I decided to turn it into a business, and to date I must say it has really been a blessing. I initially started out doing events and decor in 2018 but later expanded my services to include floral arrangement in 2022, after honing my craft in the area,” Crumbie said in sharing details recently with the Jamaica Observer about her business.
Operating mainly from her home in Hanover she offers services islandwide, utilising her various social media platforms and telephone to connect with customers near and far. Her current customer base is largely made up of persons who want the best arrangement or who are planning for a wide range of events — including funerals and burials, parties, weddings and anniversaries, among others.
The small business for which she is the boss and worker does at time receive the support of her mom and siblings who join in to offer assistance when the workload becomes heavy. Citing floral arrangement as the most sought after service since inception, she said this stems from the fact that special attention is always given to details in this area.
“Floral arrangement has the highest demand at the moment as I do these jobs for mainly funerals, weddings and some events held by churches and other organisations. For these projects I use fresh flowers for almost all of my arrangements, except in cases where the customer wishes to use artificial flowers. In providing well-thought-out colour schemes and designs as well as timely deliveries at affordable/budget-friendly prices, I am able to retain a lot of my customers as I also attract new ones,” she said.
Pushing to grow the entity in becoming a standout in the industry within the next few years, the small business owner said steps are now being taken to embark on a more rigorous marketing and promotion campaign as the entity goes after more customers, increased earnings, and overall growth and expansion.
“I’m now in the process of developing a website which I believe that it, along with my social media channels, will push me into having a greater online presence as it also helps me to tap into the growing digital community here in Jamaica and the Diaspora,” Crumbie said.
More audacious in her attempts to add a brick and mortar location, she said this will significantly help the business to leapfrog into a whole new phase of development.
“My long-term vision is to have this physical store in a central hub as this will give me the opportunity to have greater access to that walk-in traffic. With this space I will also be able to display a much larger cross section of my work for potential customers to see. As I continue to look at ways to strengthen current streams, the addition of new services such as gifts is one among the list of services we will add to those in which the business already specialises,” she added.
