Young Reggae Boyz crash out of Concacaf qualifying
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica crashed out of the Concacaf Men’s U-20 Championships on Friday, beaten 3-0 by Cuba in their final Group A game played at Estadio Leon in Leon, Mexico.
The young Reggae Boyz finished at the foot of the points table, failing to score a point after losing all three games by a combined 15-0, losing 9-0 to the USA and 3-0 to Costa Rica in their previous games.
Cuba meanwhile, put themselves in a good position to earn a spot in the next round as one of the best third place teams as they joined Costa Rica on four points, two behind leaders USA who are on six from winning their first two games.
Michael Camejo gave Cuba the lead after the 35th minute and they doubled the score just before the half time break when David Perez scored in the 42nd minute.
Despite creating a number of scoring charges, Jamaica were unable to claw their way back into the game and went further behind when Rashaun Small tripped Didier Reinoso just inside the 18-yard box and Karel Perez just beat the diving Joshua Grant in the Jamaican goal from the penalty spot.
