Fraser-Pryce shares warm moment with star-struck New Zealand Olympian
KINGSTON, Jamaica — It’s not uncommon to see a fan left starstruck after meeting a top sports personality, but it takes a special level of greatness for a sportsperson to leave a fellow elite athlete in awe. That was the case on Thursday when Olympic gold medalist Michaela Blyde was caught on video gushing over Jamaican three-time Olympic gold medallist, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
In the video, which went viral on social media, the New Zealand professional rugby sevens player can be seen fanning herself as she states, “I just saw Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce”.
In an update on Friday via Instagram, Blyde shared a photo taken with Fraser-Pryce captioned, “Have you even seen a bigger smile. A video of this roller coaster of a day is coming. @realshellyannfp QUEEN!”
Her teammate Tyla Nathan-Wong shared in the moment, sharing her own photo with Fraser-Pryce to her Instagram stating, “The one and only @realshellyannfp. Thanks for making our sis @michaelablyde life.”
Fraser-Pryce is set to line up with the best in the world for her fifth Olympic Games this summer. She is among the 32 women named to the Jamaican team.
Fraser-Pryce has said she will retire after the games.
