Sangster International Airport cops Caribbean’s Leading Airport Award 2024

ST JAMES, Jamaica— Sangster International Airport (SIA) has been awarded the Caribbean’s Leading Airport 2024 by the World Travel Awards

MBJ Airports Limited, the company that manages and operates the Sangster International Airport on behalf of the Government of Jamaica, announced the achievement in a release on Thursday.

The company said that the distinguished accolade underscores SIA’s unwavering commitment to delivering superior service and operational excellence.

World Travel Awards recognise, reward, and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries and is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence.

Winners are determined through a rigorous process, including input from industry professionals and travellers worldwide, making this recognition a testament to SIA’s outstanding performance and reputation in the travel industry, MBJ said.

It added that Sangster International Airport is proud to claim this title for 2024 and for the 16th consecutive year.

“We are immensely proud to receive this award, which reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire airport team. It reinforces our commitment to excellence as we continuously strive to enhance the passenger experience through our ongoing initiatives and upcoming projects,” said Shane Munroe, chief executive officer of MBJ Airports Limited.

Commercial, Business Development & Marketing Manager with MBJ Airports Limited, Sharon Hislop-Holt echoed these sentiments adding, “We are dedicated to continuously raising the bar in airport service and operations. This award inspires us to keep striving for excellence and to deliver superior service to our airport users.”

MBJ said that Sangster International Airport has consistently demonstrated unwavering dedication to service quality and innovation, implementing numerous enhancements aimed at improving passenger experience and operational efficiency.

It added that recent upgrades include state-of-the-art and streamlined passenger processing systems, including biometrics, an expanded Departure area with exciting retail and dining options, and an expansion of the runway, which it said has significantly contributed to SIA’s reputation as the leading airport in the region.

“Sangster International Airport is poised for further growth, and MBJ Airports Limited is committed to maintaining its position as an industry leader by investing in innovative technologies and state-of-the-art infrastructure, with several infrastructure projects currently underway to include the expansion of terminal facilities and integration of innovation and new technology to enhance further the experience, convenience and safety of our airport users,” the release said.

It added that SIA remains committed to setting new benchmarks in the industry, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable journey for all travellers.
