Beaubrun confident of successful Observer ‘Golden Glory’ coverage
Ahead of the nation’s participation at the 33rd Summer Olympics, Jamaica Observer Media Group Managing Director Dominic Beaubrun says the group’s coverage of the 2024 Paris Games will be one of the best the region has ever seen.
The launch of the coverage, Golden Glory, took place on Tuesday at the Observer’s headquarters on Beechwood Avenue.
The group’s innovative and comprehensive coverage of the July 26-August 11 Games will span across several different platforms: print, online, digital and radio with Sport Reporter Robert Bailey and award-winning photographer Naphtali Junior bringing unique, up-to-date and exclusive features from the French capital.
Beaubrun is confident the readers, listeners and viewers will be captivated by what the
Observer has to offer over the next few weeks.
“The coverage that we’ve crafted through our O Team, Sports Content Manager Andre Lowe and his team promises to be something that looks at the alternate ways to behind the scenes and information on the ground from the camp itself, the athletes and the ambiance and characteristics about what’s happening in Paris thereafter,” said Beaubrun.
“We want to be the ones bringing the information about Jamaicans, by Jamaicans, for Jamaicans and the wider Caribbean to ensure it comes from within Jamaica itself so the coverage we’re bringing is an exciting, well-supported, Jamaican- and Caribbean-based coverage that I think will do the audiences very well,” he added.
‘Golden Glory’ has secured substantial sponsorships from some of corporate Jamaica’s prominent entities including Flow, Red Stripe, Scotiabank, Supreme Ventures, Gatorade, and Sunshine Snacks.
Beaubrun believes their commitment is a testament to the Observer’s ongoing commitment to maintaining high levels of excellence in the media industry.
“I think it’s one of the largest set of support that we’ve gotten thus far. It does say something about the standard by which we judge ourselves to be able to create the content,” he said.
“The Observer, as its motto goes, we’re always ahead and we wanted to make sure that this year, we’ll add a little extra in terms of the types of things we’re doing. We have the resources, the facilities and the expertise to try and ensure the quality of content, the differentiation and style of content is something that audiences will be pleased with.”
With the coverage set to be top class, Beaubrun is confident that the Jamaican athletes will do the same in Paris.
“Every time a Jamaican athlete puts on a uniform, they compete on a global level, bringing recognition to their country and their communities and I think that’s a matter of immense pride that Jamaicans carry so well and I know the athletes will demonstrate their capacity not only in terms of performance but how they carry themselves and that’s something we will look forward to being able to produce and publish and share to the wider audiences in Jamaica and abroad.”
