Seniors’ domino tournament a resounding success, says Davis
HUMBER Davis, first vice-president of National Association of Domino Bodies (NADB), expressed his delight with the impressive turnout at the first phase of the Senior Citizen Domino Tournament in St Thomas on July 18.
The tournament, organised by National Association of Domino Bodies and National Council for Senior Citizens (NCSC), was contested among teams from Kingston, St Thomas, Portland, and St Mary. It culminated with the Portland team emerging as champions, beating St Mary.
“The participation was outstanding, and we successfully achieved our objectives of stimulating mental agility, fostering social interaction, and promoting cognitive well-being among seniors,” Davis said when asked about the tournament.
He added: “The tournament was a resounding success, with a warm and competitive atmosphere, and we’re thrilled to have made a positive impact on the mental health and resilience of our participants.”
The tournament is to continue on Thursday — with competition among St Ann, Trelawny, St James, Westmoreland, and Hanover — and is set to conclude on August 15, with action from parishes comprising St Andrew, St Catherine, Clarendon, and Mandeville.
