Jamaican referees in action at the Olympics
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaican FIFA officials Odette Hamilton and Daneon Parchment will be in action on the first two days of the Olympic Games football competition. The Games got underway in Paris, France on Wednesday.
Hamilton was the fourth official in Wednesday’s Group C game between Concacaf team Dominican Republic and Egypt, played at La Beaujoire Stadium in Nantes. She returns to action on Thursday in the women’s game between Spain and Japan, while Parchment will work the opening women’s game between France and Colombia, where he will be the Assistant VAR official.
Hamilton is the second Jamaican woman to get the nod, following Stacy-Ann Greyson’s groundbreaking appointment at the London Games in 2012 when she became the first Jamaican and Caribbean woman to officiate at an Olympics.
