Anthony B recovering at home after hospitalisation that caused Reggae Sumfest cancellation
KINGSTON, Jamaica- Rastafarian firebrand Anthony B is now home, convalescing with his family after he was recently hospitalised with an undisclosed medical condition.
The 48-year-old singer thanked his fans for the outpouring of love and support during his ailment.
“I am truly grateful for your words, love, prayers and support. I am home now, out of the hospital, recovering my strength,” he told Observer Online.
Last week, reggae fans were surprised Anthony B failed to grace the Reggae Sumfest Concert Night 2 stage. The ‘Raid the Barn’ singer’s management team issued a release stating that he would “not be performing on Night 2 of the Reggae Sumfest Festival as was previously promoted.”
“We want to clarify that this is not the fault of the promoter or the artiste… we look forward to seeing you next year for the greatest reggae show in the world – Sumfest 2025,” the statement read.
Reggae artiste Norris Man, during his performance over the weekend, shared the bad news with the audience that all was not copacetic with Anthony B.
“There is a lot of mixed emotions going on with me right now,” Norris Man said.
“One of my favourite artistes, my good friend; my bredrin, everyting to me. He could not make it tonight on Reggae Sumfest. Keith Blair, Anthony B bless up yuself. Whatever going on with you my brother, speedy recovery. Jah know, mi feel it to mi heart,” the singer continued.
One of the most iconic reggae artistes of his generation, Anthony B is known for tracks such as ‘Fire Pon Rome’, ‘One Thing’, ‘King in My Castle’ and ‘My Yes and My No’.
