Portland and St Mary residents block roads in electricity protests
ST MARY, Jamaica — The Junction main road in St Mary is impassable as residents downed trees Monday morning in protest for electricity.
Annotto Bay in St Mary and Windsor Castle in Portland were also blocked in a similar protest, however, Observer Online understands that those two areas now have single lane access as the police and military removed some debris.
Monday’s protests in the three areas follow a series of demonstrations across the country where residents have voiced their displeasure with the response of the Jamaica Public Service company to restore electricity after the passage of Hurricane Beryl on July 3.
