Teams seek first win in St James U20
ST JAMES, Jamaica— Four teams will be seeking their first win Friday when the St James Football Association/Guardian Group Under-20 competition continues with two rescheduled Zone B games.
Flanker Lion and Spot Valley Rovers will play their first game when they host Green Pond SC and Granville United respectively, both games set to start at 3:30pm.
Green Pond’s scheduled first game against Spot Valley on Tuesday was not played as the field at Green Pond was not prepared while Granville United were beaten 2-1 by Maldon in their first game.
On Wednesday, Nicardo Tomlinson scored five times for Irwin who rebounded from their opening game loss to defending champions Cambridge United, in their 8-2 win over Bogue United while Reggae Youths beat Cambridge High 4-1, both games played at Irwin High School.
Tomlinson, who had scored in their 2-3 loss to Cambridge United, scored in the ninth, 20th, 36th, 44th and 50th minutes while Desroy Campbell scored in the 15th minute, Nathaniel Foster in the 28th minute and Tyese Christie in the 72nd minute were the other scorers.
Romaine Heavens had drawn Bogue United level at 1-1 in the 17th minute and Ryan Mitchell had made the score 2-2 in the 24th minute before Irwin scored the next six goals and led 6-1 at half time.
Four different players scored for Reggae Youths.
Fabian Gray opened the scoring in the sixth minute while Jamaar Moodie made it 2-0 in the 11th minute before JayR Moore pulled a goal back for Cambridge High in the 17th minute for a 2-1 half-time score- line.
Tyrique Scott restored Reggae Youths’ two goals advantage when he scored in the 46th minute while Rohan Beckford added a fourth goal in the 66th minute.
