Singer Irie pens Voice of God for Minister Marion
...set for Sumfest stage on Saturday
Last month when Minister Marion Hall posted on social media that, “I’m about to make some of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made in my life, which may take me back to a place where I would never dream of going back, but seems to be heading back there, from this moment on,” it sparked speculation of a return to the dancehall scene as Lady Saw.
One of the individuals who noticed the sensational post was Singer Irie, a veteran artiste based in New Jersey, USA.
He immediately put pen to paper and wrote Voice of God, a song produced by Norman Owen.
“I love Marion Hall aka Lady Saw, and I know she was truly trying to walk in God’s way. And when I saw her on Instagram crying and saying that she going to step out of the church and deal with the situation that people doing to her, I felt that, as a friend of hers, what come to mind was to do this to show my love and help strengthen her not to give up,” he said in an interview with the Jamaica Observer’s Splash.
Singer Irie is scheduled to perform at Reggae Sumfest on Saturday at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay.
Interestingly, Lady Saw was crowned Queen of The Dancehall at the annual event in 2012, three years before converting to Christianity.
She has not addressed the Instagram post since it made the rounds five weeks ago.
Singer Irie, previously known as Patrick Irie, has been recording music since the 1980s.
In January, he performed on the Rebel Salute stage.
