Bog Walk Gorge to be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic on Friday
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica— The National Works Agency (NWA) and the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) are advising the public that the Bog Walk Gorge in St Catherine will be closed on Friday, July 19 to vehicular traffic to facilitate the replacement of downed JPS transmission poles.
The closure will occur between 9:00am and 6:00pm, the NWA said.
The NWA said the closure of the roadway is necessary as the JPS will be using large equipment to effect the works. As a result, the presence of the equipment will restrict and affect the flow of traffic.
The urgent restoration of the line is critical to ensure security of electricity supply to over 100,000 JPS customers, the news release said.
Motorists are being advised to use other routes such as Sligoville, Red Hills or Barry during the period of closure.
