Burger King and Popeyes provide meals to communities affected by Hurricane Beryl
Restaurants Associates Limited (RAL), through its Burger King and Popeyes franchises, stepped up to the plate in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl by reaching out and serving 2,000 meals to residents of St Elizabeth and Clarendon severely affected by the storm.
The two-day initiative created a moment of happiness in the lives of individuals grappling with the effects of the storm and has been recognised by Member of Parliament for St Elizabeth South West, Floyd Green, who said he was deeply moved by RAL’s commitment to the community and expressed his gratitude for the act of kindness.
Nardia Kiffen-Green, head of marketing for Burger King and Popeyes, said the initiative underscored RAL’s track record of supporting communities during challenging times.
“After experiencing a tragedy like Hurricane Beryl, enjoying a meal can lift your spirits and motivate you to keep moving,” Kiffen-Green said in a press release, noting that the company has demonstrated that compassion can uplift communities in times of crisis.
According to RAL, it knows that corporate support and community solidarity can play a significant role in rebuilding and revitalising affected areas.
Hurricane Beryl brushed the south coast of Jamaica on Wednesday, July 3, leaving much damage and destruction in its wake, with St Elizabeth, Clarendon and Manchester among the worst affected parishes.
