‘Browning’ targeted in Manchester double murder
CRAIGHEAD, Manchester— Police in this south-central parish
are theorising that a 39-year-old woman may have been the target of a gun attack which resulted in the death of two people and the wounding of another on Saturday night. The woman identified by police as Tanesha Burton, otherwise called Browning, was fatally shot along with 74-year-old Wilford Mallison, otherwise called Danny, in the gun attack.
The two were residents of Bigwood district in Craighead.
According to the police, about 10:00 pm Saturday residents reported hearing loud explosions in the area. When the police arrived at a shop in the area three people were found with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
They were taken to hospital where Mallison and Burton were pronounced dead. An injured man, who was shot in the back and collapsed after running, was admitted. The incident in the north-east Manchester community of Craighead, a farming area, has sent shock waves.
Henry, a resident of Bigwood, told the Jamaica Observer that he knew both victims. “Me shock out, nervous this morning [Sunday] when me hear wah gwan. Cyah believe, for me never see nutten like this yah yet,” said Henry.“Me know dem inna the district. Me and browning [Burton] go market together. This yah man yah suh [Mallison] me know him from me a little boy. Me never hear dem man deh and nobody have no problem, no quarrel,” Henry added.
