We need help
Dear Editor,
I am writing to share my deep pain and struggle after Hurricane Beryl hit my community.
As a fisherman from Portland Cottage, my life has been turned upside down. The storm destroyed my boat and all my equipment, leaving me unable to work. My family is suffering because of this.
My wife and I have three children and we are all struggling to survive. We have no food, no clean water, and no shelter. The hurricane took the roof off our house, and now we are battling with the rain and the sun; the beds are wet; the children are sleeping on the floor. My children are scared and hungry, and we have nowhere to turn.
We need help now. I am begging the Government and anybody at all who can help to come to our community; the situation is very bad. We need food, water, and materials to fix our house. We have no signals on our phones so even if we get to charge them, we can’t make any calls. We cannot survive without help.
Please, I don’t know what else to do. As a man I feel like I am failing my family. I am begging for assistance from anyone who can.
Thank you for bringing attention to our devastating situation.
