‘Just a cramp in the hamstring,’ Jackson’s physiotherapist says
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Fears of any serious injury to Olympic Games women’s sprint double medal favourite Shericka Jackson were laid to rest after her physiotherapist Troy Evans posted on social media she was okay.
“Cramp in the hamstring, she will be working on,” Evans posted on his Instagram account with a video of Jackson pushing off from the starting blocks and sprinting in an indoor warm up area with her coach Paul Francis seen looking on in the background.
Evans did not say whether the video was taken before or after Jackson had pulled up near the finish of a women’s 200m race at Tuesday’s Istvan Gyulai Memorial, a part of the Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix and World Athletics Continental Tour – Gold event at the Bregyó Athletic Center, Székesfehérvár.
Jackson was leading the race with about 50 metres to go when she pulled up and limped across the line with a grimace on her face.
She will be seeking her first Olympic Games individual gold medal when she competes at the Paris Games next month, and will be hoping to add to the bronze medals she won in the 400m in Rio in 2016 and in the 100m in Tokyo, Japan in 2021.
