Cari-Med supports Food for the Poor’s hurricane relief efforts
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Cari-Med Foundation has donated relief supplies valued at approximately $4.5 million to Food for the Poor in support of its efforts to help Jamaicans affected by Hurricane Beryl.
The donation, which was handed over by representatives of the Cari-Med Group during a visit to Food for the Poor’s Spanish Town location on Tuesday, July 9, includes cases of water, food, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items, and over-the-counter medications.
Following the passage of the hurricane, Food for the Poor has been among the first responders spearheading the distribution of relief packages to the most severely affected parishes.
Chairman of the Cari-Med Group, Glen Christian, lauded the quick response by Food for the Poor, and noted that his company has been in dialogue with some of its overseas suppliers who have expressed an interest in supporting the relief effort.
