Pandemic Records takes aim at local and overseas markets
Atlanta-based Jamaican-owned music label Pandemic Records has been steadily making a name for itself on the local music scene.
Having released projects with the likes of recording artistes Jah Lama, Prohgress, Munga Honorable, Hero, Quada, Ikaya and Chronic Law among others, the label’s main objective is to release authentic music for the preservation of Jamaican culture.
“Pandemic Records represents good authentic reggae and dancehall music that represents the culture and people of Jamaica. We have been around for four years and our aim is to create and promote songs that will last a lifetime,” said Sheldon Edwards, label boss.
Edwards, along with Rodrick Blair, are the owners of Pandemic Records.
The label’s most recent release is Coming Straight by Jeff Fullyauto, which is featured on the Confine Rhythm.
“Jeff Fullyauto’s song is on the Confine Rhythm, which is our latest project. However, we have the Passion Fruit rhythm that we are hoping to release shortly,” said Edwards.
Last December, Pandemic Records hosted the first in an annual series called Fight the Fight, which featured performances by Jah Lama, Bounty Killer, Turbulence and Hero among others.
Held in Clarendon, the event was the launching pad for Pandemic Records recording artiste Jah Lama, who released his EP of the same name.
“Fight the Fight was our first event which was held to showcase the Jah Lama EP as well as to showcase some young talent that we have worked with before. We will be hosting the event again this year on December 14.
Said Edwards, “We hope to find the number 1 song in Jamaica and the world. With all the hard work we hope to achieve that one day.”
