Courts to remain closed islandwide
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The Judiciary of Jamaica is advising the public that due to the effects of Hurricane Beryl, all courts across the island will remain closed on Friday.
It added that during the closure of the courts, a comprehensive assessment will be done to evaluate any damage and to ensure that the premises are safe for the resumption of operations.
The Judiciary said it anticipates that normal court proceedings will resume on Monday, July 8, pending the outcome of the assessments and any necessary repairs.
“The safety of our citizens and court staff is our highest priority. We encourage everyone to follow safety guidelines and advisories issued by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) and other relevant authorities,” the Judiciary said.
It further advised that for further inquiries or updates about court matters, the public can contact their respective court office or the Court Administration Division at 876-613-8800.
