Here Comes the Hotstepper surges on Billboard charts
Reggae artiste Ini Kamoze scored a double on the Billboard charts with platinum-certified hit single Here Comes the Hotstepper and album of the same name.
The album, released in 1995, moves up from #9 to #8 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.
Meanwhile, the single which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1995, rises to #9 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart. It peaked at #4 on the June 1, 2024, dated chart.
Interestingly, the revived interest in both the song and album has been attributed to the use of the song in a Starbucks television commercial, which has been airing in North America.
Still on the Billboard charts, Santa by producer Rvssian, Rauw Alejandro and Ayra Starr experiences a downward trajectory on some listings. On Global 200 Excluding US, the song dips from #27 to #24, while on Global 200 it backtracks from #36 to #43.
Santa fares better on Hot Latin Songs, crashing from #7 to #12, while on Latin Streaming Songs it reverses from #6 to #18.
Over on Latin Rhythm Airplay, Santa steps up from #8 to #7, while on Latin Airplay it improves from #30 to #25.
Jump by Tyla, Gunna and Skillibeng should see an uptick on the charts next week following their performance of the song during Sunday night’s telecast of the BET Awards. However, the song has re-entered Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at #46, while moving up to #9 on World Digital Song Sales chart.
Jump falls on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay from #33 to #37, while on Hot R&B Songs it inches down from #7 to #8. Over on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, it improves from #29 to #28. On the Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay, Jump remains at #19.
Moving now to the sales- and streaming-driven Billboard Reggae Albums chart, eight of the titles are all former chart-toppers.
