WATCH: Residents capture crocodile in Waterford
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Residents in Waterford, St Catherine captured a crocodile which was seen in a gully near the community Thursday morning following heavy rains brought by Hurricane Beryl.
In a video captured by Edge 105 FM’s radio personality, Wesley “Burgerman” Burger, several residents were observed using ropes and a stick to restrict the crocodile before pulling him out of the gully.
One eyewitness said police cordoned off the area while they waited for representatives from the National Environment and Planning Agency to retrieve the crocodile.
Commenting on the incident in a post to social media platform X, Hope Zoo General Curator Joey Brown said: “Right now in Waterford, Spanish Town. The croc not troubling no one, just needs to be left alone and he’ll find his way to deeper waters. Crowd is stoning croc, a friend is trying to help but need authorities to calm and disperse crowd.”
The crocodile has since been removed.
