Poko Loko Floating Bar damaged by Hurricane Beryl
ST ANN, Jamaica — The recently—opened Poko Loko Floating Bar, celebrated as the first of its kind in Jamaica, was reportedly damaged during Hurricane Beryl.
Photos and videos obtained by Observer Online in the aftermath of the category 4 storm show a section of the roof of the Ocho Rios bar caved in and some of its structures collapsed.
The facility was opened in June of this year.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett had welcomed the US$1 million investment in the tourism industry.
Poko Loko, was conceptualised to provide visitors to Jamaica with an unforgettable adventure on the Caribbean Sea’s crystal-clear waters. The floating bar, which had spanned 6,000 square feet, was designed to offer an unparalleled experience on the water.
Guests could enjoy cocktails crafted by skilled bartenders while lounging on the spacious deck, soaking up the sun’s warm rays, and marvelling at the stunning surroundings.
