JPS working to restore power as quickly as possible
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says it is now conducting the necessary assessment needed to restore power to those who lost connection during the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
On Wednesday, the light and power company reported that at least 65 per cent of customers were without service.
In a post to their official social media pages on Thursday morning, JPS said it is working to restore connection as quickly as possible and urged customers to be patient as they carry out necessary repair work.
“In order to get electricity to you from the source, we have to do a thorough damage assessment to identify where the problems are. The damage may be on a main line, which could be miles away from where you are,” its statement read. “Our teams are now doing the damage assessment, and will complete the necessary repairs so you can get your power back as quickly and as safely as possible,” the utility company said.
