Government offices reopen today
NORMAL operations of government ministries, departments and agencies are scheduled to resume today as all public sector workers have been instructed to return to office.
In a release from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), the Government said it thanks all essential workers for their exemplary public service during the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
“Recognising that some staff may face challenges in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, the Government encourages any employee experiencing difficulties to contact their supervisors or entity head as flexibility will be provided to ensure their well-being while maintaining essential services,” said OPM.
“The Government is committed to ensuring that all Jamaicans have access to public services as we begin the recovery from Hurricane Beryl,” added OPM.
The Jamaica Urban Transit Company Limited (JUTC) also resumed service on a phased schedule this morning.
The bus company said an assessment was under way and data on passable routes is being reviewed to determine the extent of service resumption.
Government services were shut down on Tuesday as the country braced for Hurricane Beryl.
