#EyeOnBeryl: ‘Rumours dem spreading’ says JPS amid report it is to cut power at 11:00 pm
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is urging Jamaicans to stay tuned to its official social media pages for updates amid social media reports that it plans to cut its power supply at 11:00 pm on Tuesday.
JPS said it has no plans to disconnect electricity Tuesday. However, it has indicated that some areas may experience power outages as hurricane conditions begin to affect the island. It also revealed that depending on the impact of Hurricane Beryl, the network may gradually transition to full shut down mode in a bid to “protect itself.”
There have been news swirling that the light and power company plans to disconnect power Tuesday night as it braces for the impact of the pending storm.
