2024 Summer Make-up Tips
With the mercury soaring, we all want to ensure that our make-up looks are memorable, doable and effective. Who better for Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD)
to seek advice from than celebrity make-up artist Ashleigh Porter?
“First things first,” shares Porter, “your summer make-up kit should incorporate products that give a lightweight glow, sufficient coverage but still protect your skin from the sun. Less is more when it comes to achieving the perfect summer look.” Interpret this to mean concealing only where necessary to create a fresh- face beat.
Porter’s recommended products for the heat:
1. A tinted moisturiser, lightweight foundation or BB cream with SPF
When thinking about how to apply the right base for your make-up, the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation product provides both lasting coverage and lightweight consistency. You can use other product alternatives like a tinted moisturiser or BB creams. To get extra protection from the sun, SPF is a must!
2. Full natural eyebrows
If you’re aiming for the full natural eyebrows look, the goal is to enhance your natural brows without overdoing it. You can use a thick or tacky brow gel to keep the brows in place throughout the day. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze brow styling wax does a great job at taming brow hairs. When plucking your brows, only remove stray hairs and use a brow pencil to pull the look together.
3. Wearing blush
To achieve rosy cheeks and a healthy youthful appearance, you would need a mauvy cream-based blush. Porter’s recommendation is the Patrick Ta’s Major Headlines Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush Duo.
4. Wear the nude lip combo
A nude lip never goes out of style as long as it complements your outfit and skin tone. You almost can’t go wrong wearing flesh tone lip colours, a clear gloss with brown lip liner or a nude lip lined with a warm brown pencil. Good products for these lip looks are the Fenty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in the clear shade Glass Slipper, Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil, or ColorPop’s So Juicy Plumping Glosses lined with lip liners like Chestnut or Cork from MAC Cosmetics.
5. A long-wear setting spray
To keep this entire look in place, you may want to get On ‘Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray from ONE/SIZE by Patrick Starr. This setting spray — created by a make-up artist — has longevity and because of the formula, it keeps the make-up look together in hot temperatures.
