#NationalTrials: Nugent, Williams and Tapper among finalists for women’s sprint hurdles
KINGSTON, Jamaica — World Champion Danielle Williams and Olympic Games bronze medallist Megan Tapper are among the finalists for Sunday’s 100m hurdles final at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) national championships after the semi-finals held on Saturday.
Ackera Nugent, a finalist at the World Athletics Championships last year, lead the qualifiers with a season’s best 12.46 seconds (-1.1m/s), followed by Williams — who is still to compete at the Olympics — with 12.57 seconds (-1.1m/s). Tapper’s 12.71 seconds (-0.6m/s) was third best.
Oneka Wilson of Clemson University ran a personal bets 12.76 seconds (-1.1m/s), the same time as Demisha Roswell, while 2019 World Championships finalist Janeek Brown-12.83 seconds and Amoi Brown- 12.86 seconds also advanced.
Britany Anderson, the national record holder and World Championships silver medalist who was running in Jamaica for the first time since 2022, failed to get past the semi-finals.
