WATCH: Local company launches canned curried goat and mannish water
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Canned curried goat and canned mannish water were among a range of products launched by TrippleC Manufacturing & Distribution Limited on Friday.
The products were launched in collaboration with the Scientific Research Council (SRC) and Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO).
CEO of TrippleC Manufacturing & Distribution Limited, Colin Jackson said some of the products have been in the making since 2009, particularly the canned mannish water that was produced by the SRC.
Jackson said challenges presented itself with the product’s initial launch which had to be addressed.
The revamped “Real Jamaican Mannish Water” in can has a 24-month shelf life.
Jackson has now expanded his product line to include the canned “Jamaican Curry Goat”.
Describing the line of canned foods as innovative, creative and truly ground breaking, Agriculture Minister, Floyd Green lauded the creators for their commitment to agriculture.
“What we see here is a testament to commitment, commitment to agriculture, commitment to enterprise. It’s a testament to hard work. It’s a testament for thinking about how can you come up with new things that can move Jamaica forward. It’s a testament to food security and we always have to think about if the world closes its border again what would we eat and how would we be prepared and products of this nature are exactly what we would have to focus more attention on. It’s a testament of how creative we are in Jamaica and clearly as you have heard, it’s also a testament of a good love story,” Green said.
Member of Parliament for St Andrew South Eastern, Julian Robinson, also commended Jackson for the brilliant initiative.
“Brilliant initiative by Colin and his team to have tinned curried goat and tinned mannish water. These are probably two of the most favourite Jamaican meals and if we can tin this, it will provide the opportunity for export because there are as many Jamaicans outside of Jamaica who would love products like these,” said Robinson, who is also the Opposition spokesman on finance.
