#NationalTrials: Kishane Thompson runs world lead to win 100m
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Kishane Thompson ran a personal best 9.77 seconds (0.9m/s) to win his first men’s 100m title at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) National Championships at the National Stadium on Friday, to crown what was a magnificent showcase of world class sprinting.
Thompson, who only ran one round last year, became the fourth fastest Jamaican man ever, only behind world record holder Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell and took over the world lead from Kenya’s Ferdinand Omayala.
Last year’s champion Oblique Seville was second, equalling his personal best of 9.82 seconds with Ackeem Blake third in 9.92 seconds.
Bryan Levell was fourth in 10.04 seconds, followed by Jelani Walker who was also timed in 10.04 seconds; Jehlani Gordon was sixth in 10.07 seconds, followed by Sandrey Davison-10,11 seconds and Kadrian Goldson- 10.21 seconds.
