Daindra Harrison looks to national coronation
After copping the Miss Kingston and St Andrew Festival Queen title at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in Kingston on Sunday, 22-year old Daindra Harrison is optimistic that she will win the national title come August.
Harrison, who wore the sash Miss Jamaica Private Power Company, also won sectional prizes for Most Poised, Most Popular on Social Media, and Most Active in the Community.
“I am feeling very confident, and yet again I believe I that I have what it takes. Whenever I enter into a race, I enter into it with humility. I’ve entered into the national competition with humility, with poise, with grace, and with God… I know that God really and truly helped me throughout this pageant, even though I did a lot of work for myself, God was there to kind of finish up the rest of the work for me,” the newly crowned queen, who is also a television and event host and actress, told the Jamaica Observer.
Jameika Johnson and Lori-Kaye Miles were named first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.
Harrison, who went to Ardenne High School, explained that she went the extra mile to ensure that she would have turned out victorious.
“I had to take time out to focus on every single section of that pageant… I had to take the time out to ensure that I was showing up as my best self and putting in the effort into each category. I had a team of persons helping me. I had somebody helping me through my question-and-answer, somebody guiding me through my community service involvement, and somebody was teaching me walk and poise. I’m really grateful for the JCDC trainers, but I went outside of the box to ensure that I had an additional trainer based on the network that I have to coach me through this entire pageant,” Harrison, who will be pursuing a Master of Arts in Communication and Behavioral Change starting September said.
