#NationalTrials: Fraser-Pryce, Jackson sparkle in 100m prelims
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Sprint queens Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson dispelled doubts about their respective forms and fitness after dazzling with sub-11.00 seconds performances in the first round of the women’s 100m at the National Championships on Thursday.
Both had contested the distance once this season but showed they were ready when the starters’ gun went off to thrill about 5,000 delighted spectators.
Fraser-Pryce, the 36- year- old five -time World Champion, won her race in a season’s best 10.98 seconds (0.7m/s), while Jackson cruised to a 10.99 seconds (0.9m/s) in her race.
Jodean Williams ran a lifetime best 11.01 seconds (0.9m/s), Tia Clayton also had a life- time best 11.02 seconds (0.7m/s), and World Championships semi-finalist Shashalee Forbes ran a season’s best 11.03 seconds (1.5m/s) as Natasha Morrison and Krystal Morrison both ran 11.12 seconds.
Two- time World Under-20 champion Tina Cayton, Kemba Nelson, Alana Reid and Briana Williams also advanced.
