JASL encourages HIV, Syphilis testing on National HIV Testing Day
KINGSTON, Jamaica— To commemorate National HIV Testing Day, Jamaica AIDS Support for Life (JASL) is inviting the public to get tested at its office across the island on Thursday.
Testing for HIV and Syphilis are being done at JASL offices at 3 Hendon Drive in Kingston and St Andrew; 14 King’s Street in St Ann’s Bay, St Ann; or 16 East Street in Montego Bay, St James.
“Come to any JASL location today and get tested for HIV and Syphilis. The risk is not knowing. Get educated. Learn the basic facts about HIV transmission, testing, and prevention today,” JASL Executive Director Kandasi Walton-Levermore encouraged.
Walton-Levermore further added: “Get talking. Talk with parents, families, teachers, doctors, and other trusted adults about HIV and sexual health.”
National HIV Testing Day is celebrated annually on June 27.
JASL said in a release that it will be doing a testing blitz across all three locations between the hours of 9am and 3pm on Thursday.
The organisation added that if individuals miss the opportunity to test on Thursday, they can still show up at any location, Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm, and on Fridays from 9am to 4pm where they will be accommodated.
