Former NCB employee sentenced to 2 years in prison for $74.5m fraud
Former National Commercial Bank (NCB) employee Khadene Thomas was sentenced to 24 months in prison after pleading guilty to fleecing three of the institution’s customers of a total of J$74.5 million.
The sentence was handed down Thursday in the St Ann’s Parish Court.
In February, Thomas had admitted to three counts of larceny as a servant and 31 counts of uttering forged documents.
She was charged with larceny and offences under the cybercrime act in January, 2023.
Reports are that during a two-year stint with NCB’s wealth advisor department, Thomas forged clients’ signatures on a debit instrument then debited their accounts and transferred funds to several accounts, including hers.
It was revealed that Thomas had stolen US$407,472.47 along with J$10,159,310.04, totalling a sum of J$74.5 million.
Earlier this month, she was ordered to make full restitution of the amount stolen.
