Ammunition seized in St James
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Two men were taken into custody following the seizure of several rounds of ammunition on Orange Street in Montego Bay, St James on Tuesday.
Reports from the Montego Bay police are that about 5:00 pm, officers from the Beat Officer Patrol Division were on duty in the town centre when they signalled the driver of a Nissan AD motor car to stop after he was observed committing a breach of the Road Traffic Act. The driver complied but a passenger was subsequently spotted acting in a manner that aroused the police’s suspicion. As a result, the team searched the motor car and found fifty 5.56 cartridges in a paper bag on the floor of the passenger side of the vehicle.
The men were detained.
Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
