From Strings to Pretty Things
Beautana Miller’s resolve at her school graduation was to learn a new skill: crochet. She was 16 years old. Starting with the yarn she had left over from her CXC Visual Arts examination, Miller grasped the basics of the craft by watching YouTube tutorials, using the skills to create a two-piece swimsuit. Following more practice, she became proficient at sizing and writing patterns for her creations.
“In August of 2022, I decided to start a business with the aim of making my talent a source of income to fund my tertiary education,” Miller told Tuesday Style Fashion (TSF). With a capital investment courtesy of her aunt, she began formulating a price list and assessing who her target audience would be. She quickly set up her Instagram business account to start marketing and enticing potential clients by showcasing her items.
Fast-forward to 2024, Miller, now 18 years old, helms a thriving business called Knitted Neat SwimFit.
Following the establishment of Knitted Neat SwimFit, she began offering merchandise for adults, children, and even pets. From swimsuits to hats and dresses, and everything in between, Miller makes stylish pieces for everyone.
Miller’s vibrant selection of ruffled bucket hats are client faves.
In response to TSF’s query as to what sets her apart, she shares that it is her ability to recreate any design needed or produce new concepts in a fast-growing competitive market. With the goal of size-inclusive designing, like Ralph Lauren, SKIMS and H&M, Beautana does not see herself slowing down anytime soon. Maintaining quality and creativity in her products directs her ventures, ensuring her customers are comfortable, confident and stylish.
