Manny Slam shows promise with an encouraging maiden win
Manny Slam, a four-year-old dark bay/brown colt bred by Sensational Slam out of the Casual Trick mare Breezy Adlih, showcased his potential with a convincing win in a maiden condition race on Saturday, June 22, 2024.
Trained by Patrick Lynch and ridden by Robert Halledeen, the colt came from behind to take the native-bred four-year-old and upward contest over 5 furlongs by 2 1/2 lengths.
Breaking off well at the start, Manny Slam settled into second place behind leader Princess Ifiyah, ridden by Raddesh Roman. As the race unfolded,
Princess Ifiyah attempted to pull away from the field, but Manny Slam maintained his stride, biding his time until the final stretch.
Seizing the opportunity after Princess Ifiyah failed to kick on in deep straight,
Manny Slam surged to the front in the closing stages to take the win easily at the wire.
Princess Ifiyah held on for second, while Roaring Thunder, ridden by Reyan Lewis, finished third.
