How to secure pensions if you are living overseas
Dear Claudienne,
I am a retired teacher living abroad. Please assist me with the issue of my life certificate from the Accountant General. I have not received pension payment since last October. The last registered life certificate that I sent to the Accountant General was returned to me. Please enquire if there is a more secure way I could send my future life certificate.
Thank you.

Dear DE,
The Corporate Services Division of the Accountant General’s Department (AGD) has informed Tell Claudienne that the life certificate can be submitted through the high commission, embassy or consulate.
The e-mail sent to Tell Claudienne states:
“Pensioners residing overseas and paid in Jamaica may submit their Pension Life Certificate (PLC) to the Accountant General’s Department (AGD) through the High Commission, Embassy, or Consulate in or nearest their country/region. These agencies will collect the PLC and remit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in Jamaica for further submission to the AGD.
Pensioners may also use a reputable courier company to deliver the PLC directly to the AGD in Jamaica at 21 Dominica Drive, P.O. Box 495 GPO, Kingston 5.
Submission of PLC through the High Commission, Embassy and Consulate:
The PLC must bear the original signature of the pensioner and should also be signed, certified and stamped by an authorised person such as a Notary Public, Justice of the Peace or Medical Doctor in the country or region of stay and enclosed in a sealed envelope addressed to the relevant High Commission, Embassy or Consulate and clearly labelled, ‘Attention: Accountant General’s Department – Life Certificate’.
