ATL opens first BYD showroom
Jamaica welcomes world’s #1 new energy vehicle brand in sales
ATL Automotive on Friday opened the inaugural showroom for BYD, the world-leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles and the world’s number one new energy vehicle in sales, at AC Hotel Kingston.
Another opening is slated for the third quarter of the year at the dealer’s Bogue City Centre headquarters in Montego Bay, St James.
This comes after BYD and ATL Automotive announced their regional master dealership across Jamaica and 10 other Caribbean countries including Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, Cayman, Curacao, Guyana, St Lucia, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago, last year June.
BYD Jamaica also celebrated a grand reveal at its debut at Revolution Auto Show held in Jamaica in November 2023.
“We are proud to be leading the charge on the electric revolution in the local automotive landscape. ATL Automotive has never been afraid to invest, and we remain committed to not just our brands but to providing Jamaica and the Caribbean with the best that the automotive industry has to offer,” a company release quotes ATL Automotive Executive Chairman Adam Stewart.
Seven BYD models have subsequently been introduced into the Jamaican automotive landscape: the Yuan Plus, the Seal, the Dolphin, the Han, the Tang, the e6, and the first super plug-in hybrid Song Plus DM-I, with the Yuan Plus proving to be a best seller in the market, the auto dealer said.
“The consensus about BYD’s presence in Jamaica has been exceptional, particularly the hybrid capabilities of the Song Plus DM-I. The combination of a traditional combustion engine and Blade battery provide a gentle introduction to the world of electric motoring, easing any concerns potential customers may have about range and providing smooth transitions into sustainable mobility,” the company stated.
It said that both showrooms promise to be world-class, state-of-the-art facilities that display all the latest BYD models while providing new and existing BYD customers with an overall first-rate experience.
“With EVs [electric vehicles] persons do not have to worry about the unknown. All our BYD models come with a minimum 400 km range and go as far as 1,000 km. Plus, with a free home-charging station and installation, backed by our internationally trained technicians utilising our state-of-the-art technology, EVs are the way of the future. We remain committed and are proud that each BYD also includes an eight-year battery warranty,” added Stewart who is also executive chairman of the
Jamaica Observer.
According to ATL Automotive, BYD has quickly grown into one of the world’s biggest manufacturers of electric vehicles and has the distinction of being the first and only company to provide a variety of extensive, new energy vehicle solutions across a range of industries including, but not limited to logistics, construction, and railway transit.
“Also renowned for its groundbreaking battery technology used in its electric vehicles, as well energy storage systems and portable devices, BYD is committed to technological innovations for a better life while sustainably protecting the environment and cooling the earth by one degree,” the company stated.
“ATL Automotive is proud to partner with a company like BYD that is committed to researching and developing novel, sustainable technologies, expanding its product offerings and working with like-minded partners worldwide to pioneer technological innovations for a better life,” the release said.
