Value for Money @ The Coppers
Food Awards judge Kadean Vendryes checks out The Coppers.
The Coppers, as it is popularly called, offers a bar and two restaurants (The Cellar and The Coppers) in one spectacular location at 9 Haining Road, New Kingston. Opening hours are from Tuesday to Saturday 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Sundays 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm, closed on Mondays. Walk-ins are welcomed but reservations are highly recommended, especially for large groups and on weekends.
The bar offers a wide range of expertly crafted drinks including vodka, rum, whisky/brandy, tequila, gin, wine and prosecco-based cocktails and non-alcoholic mocktails, my ultimate favourites being the ‘Nojitos’—non-alcoholic fruit mojitos, such as passion fruit or strawberry, and recently the Lychee Lemonade. There are two different food menus to choose from, either The Cellar or The Coppers. Both menus offer savoury “Fine dining in Jamaica, with an international twist.”
My guests and I enjoyed a memorable evening with soft music playing in The Copper Garden oasis, a vibrant outside atmosphere with a huge mango tree in the centre of the garden and colourful bougainvilleas. The following appetisers tantalised our taste buds: Lobster Crab Queso with Garlic Crostini, Firecracker Buffalo Wings (warning: really spicy!) with Fries, Asian Vegetable Spring Rolls and Braised Oxtail Taco.
Our dining experience was elevated with the following cocktails and beers: French 75, Passion Fruit Mojito, Paloma, Floradora, Guiness and a Lychee Lemonade mocktail. We were absolutely delighted with the warm hospitality of our waitress Kemona. It was my guests’ first experience at The Coppers, and I am already being asked when the next date is. Value for money exceeded expectations and all were happy!
