‘A dream come true’
Clarendon sports bar owner wins trip to Paris Olympics from Red Stripe
A 21-year-old Clarendon sports bar owner, Andre Davis, has been brimming with joy after hearing he is among the lucky winners of Red Stripe’s ‘Guh Fi Gold and Glory’ Paris Olympics all-expense-paid trip.
The ardent sports fan has checked another item off his bucket list thanks to the beer giant.
His unexpected journey to winning the trip began during a routine visit to his local wholesale to restock supplies for his bar. Amongst his purchases were several Red Stripe six packs. Initially indifferent to the promotion, a brand promoter encouraged him to participate.
“I didn’t think I would win, so I didn’t even remember I signed up with the brand promoter at the wholesale,” said Davis who has already started mentally packing his suitcase.
“When I got the call that I was going to Paris, I was excited but doubtful. After I confirmed it through the official Red Stripe social platforms, I was ecstatic!” added Davis, whose passion for sports runs deep, having attended Denbigh High School, where he excelled in shot put.
“I have always loved athletics. Shot put was my event. In high school, I enjoyed the challenge of seeing how far I could throw the ball,” said Davis as he declared the opportunity to go to Paris and see the athletes, especially in the field events, as “a dream come true”.
“This trip to Paris will be more than just a vacation; it’s a chance to reconnect with my love for sports on the world’s biggest stage. I am so happy. If they allow it, I’ll be packing my pot covers dressed in Jamaican colours, and I’ll try to be the loudest one in the stands,” he said laughing.
The Red Stripe promotion will see 10 winners departing in July for an all-expense-paid trip to Paris to cheer on Jamaican athletes as they compete on the global stage.
The winners will not only witness Olympic events but also explore the cultural and historical treasures of Paris.
“We started this promotion to show our athletes that we are rallying behind them to ensure they can feel the Jamaican support. We are thrilled to choose hardcore fans like Andre Davis, who support our athletes with a genuine love for sports. Making Jamaican’s dreams come true is a great plus, and we are happy that Andre loves our athletes as much as Red Stripe does,” said Red Stripe Junior Brand Manager Arnaldo Martin.
The Guh Fi Gold and Glory Campaign is still gifting winners, as only three of the ultimate prize winners of the trip to Paris have been chosen so far. The campaign also offers 64-inch televisions, living room makeovers, and $50,000 cash prizes.
For Davis and the other winners, this trip represents a unique opportunity to support their country, celebrate their passion for sports, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
