Novel-T prepares to unleash new album riddled with chart-toppers
Eight years between albums is an eternity in contemporary music, but Novel-T has not been twiddling her thumbs since the release of her debut, Born to Love You, in 2016. Her follow-up album is scheduled for release this summer.
The South Florida-based singer said there will be a number of familiar songs on the yet-titled set on which she worked with several producers.
“My upcoming album is slated to have 11 songs in all, six of which are already number one songs on the charts. You can expect it in the next few weeks,” said Novel-T.
One of those chart-toppers is I Love The Way, which headed the South Florida Reggae Chart for two weeks this month. Another is a reggae cover of the Grammy-winning ballad, Don’t Know Much, on which she duets with Hopeton Lindo who also produced it.
Born to Love You, produced by Howard Perry, Novel-T’s husband, had some strong moments including Man In A Hurryand Boom Boom (Say my Name). As well as solid covers of Junior Byles’ Curly Locks and Bob Andy’s Going Home.
Novel-T hails from the August Town community in St Andrew. She knew I Love The Way (another Lindo production) was special during production.
“I knew the song was not typical, and it felt kind of different on the rhythm than one may expect, but I always try to hold positive expectations that each song will connect with listeners in a special way. Otherwise, why release it If you don’t believe it can make an impact?”
