A first win for trainer Ray Phillips
TRAINER Ray Phillips finally got his first win of the 2024 season, and it was a convincing one as his charge Glittering Magnum dominated the competition in a Maiden Condition race for native-bred four-year-olds and upward on Saturday, June 15.
Bred by Deputy Glitters out of Runaway Queen, Glittering Magnum took control by leading the pack from start to finish, crossing the line 8¾ lengths ahead of the field. The bay filly clocked 1:18.1 for the six-furlong contest.
With Raddesh Roman in the saddle Glittering Magnum shot to the front at the starting gate, ahead of Atomic Energy (Javis Edwards), Cruzinn Again (Reyan Lewis), and Storm Boy (Ramon Nepare). She maintained her lead throughout, never faltering or surrendering to challengers.
In the final stretch Glittering Magnum cruised home under a hand ride ahead of Atomic Energy and Crucial Treasure (Roger Hewitt), in that order.
