Thomas-Dodd, Clunis finish second at Edmonton Invitational
Former Commonwealth Games shot put champion Danniel Thomas-Dodd and her Jamaican compatriot hammer thrower Nayoka Clunis were runners-up at the Edmonton Athletics Invitational, a Continental Tour-Silver event, held at Foot Field in Alberta, Canada, on Thursday.
Thomas-Dodd threw 18.96m for second in the shot put with compatriot Lloydricia Cameron taking third with 17.39m.
Canada’s Commonwealth Games champion Sarah Mitton won with 19.05m.
Clunis, who broke the national record earlier this year, was consistent with a throw of 70.33m for second place, not far behind Australia’s Stephanie Ratcliffe who won with 70.52m. Former NCAA champion Janeah Stewart was third with 69.39m.
Jaheem Hayles of the University of Syracuse was fifth in the 110m hurdles, running 13.62 seconds (0.5m/s). Americans Myles Hunter (13.37) and Louis Rollins (13.43) were first and second, respectively. Australia’s Tayleb Willis was third with a personal best 13.44.
