Vaz Prep hold narrow lead over Sts Peter and Paul heading into final day
FORMER champions Vaz Prep hold a narrow three-point lead over Sts Peter and Paul heading into Saturday’s final day of the three-day JISA Prep School Championships, powered by GK General Insurance and GK Mutual Funds, at the National Stadium.
Vaz have 57 points, followed by Sts Peter and Paul with 54. Mona and St Andrew are tied on 49.5 points, followed by Our Lady of the Angels (40), Hydel (29), Emmanuel Christian Academy (28.5), Stella Maris (26), Lannaman (24), and Knox Junior (20).
Wolmer’s Kaden Levermore produced a spectacular performance to capture the Boys’ Class One 100m in 12.79, ahead of Knox Junior’s Nathan Graham (12.85) and Hydel’s Nathan-Neil Heirs (13.85).
Alzeliha Allen of Richmond Park sped to 12.88 to win the Girls’ Class One 100m, ahead of Gabrielle Williamson of St Andrew (13.18) and Crisan Allen of Ardenne (13.42).
Zane-Joshua May of Vaz captured the Boys’ Class Two 100m final in 13.76, ahead of Immanuel Purser of Our Lady of the Angels (14.02) and Gabriel Johnson of Lannaman’s (14.03).
Vaz’s Rheana Rowe set a new personal best of 13.70 to win the Girls’ Class Two 100m, in front of Anastassia Riley of Lannaman (13.73) and Gabrielle McIntosh of St Andrew (14.45). Khariah Peart from Mount Joseph sped to a meet record time of 14.64 to win the Girls’ Class Three 100m final. St Catherine’s Janaye Knight was second in 15.25 while third went to Brianna Cooke in 15.26.
Neri Kitson of Sts Peter and Paul clocked 14.89 to win the gold medal in the Boys’ Class Three 100m, ahead of his teammate Lucas Young (14.97) and Nevero Gordon of Knox Junior (15.29).
Stella Maris’s Saleem Ayton comfortably won the Boys’ Class One long jump competition with a mark of 5.09m, ahead of Hydel’s Nathan-Neil Heirs (4.99m) and Mona’s Liam Delisser (4.97m).
Sts Peter and Paul’s Laila Grier produced a good performance to win the Girls’ Class Two long jump competition with a leap of 4.12m. Mona’s Kiara Shirley was second with a mark of 4.10m while third went to Maia Campbell of Stella Maris with a jump of 3.96m.
Meanwhile, Imaney Samuels from Hydel leads all qualifiers into Saturday’s final of the Boys’ Class One 200m with a time of 25.88. He is expected to receive strong competition from Sts Peter and Paul’s Donovan James (26.43), Nathan Graham of Knox Junior (26.77), and Kaden Levermore of Wolmer’s (27.01).
Sts Peter and Paul’s Anya Johnson topped all qualifiers for the Girls’ Class One 200m final with a time of 27.57, ahead of St Andrew’s Gabrielle Williamson (28.20), Hydel’s Franchesa Herron (28.23), and Ardenne’s Crisan Allen (28.76).
