‘Just leave him alone’: Some Jamaicans want Reggae Boyz to move on without Bailey
With the Leon Bailey vs Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) saga taking another dramatic turn this week, there are indications that members of the public are becoming weary of the JFF’s pursuit of the Aston Villa winger who is on “a break” from the national team.
The 26-year-old on Wednesday refused a call-up to be part of the Reggae Boyz squad at the Copa America which kicks off next week.

Shortly after Head Coach Heimir Hallgrimsson named Bailey to the team in a grand announcement at Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records, and expressed delight in the player’s return to the squad, Bailey publicly declined the invite with a post on social media saying ‘misleading information’.
His agent Craig Butler, said that despite meeting with the JFF over Bailey’s possible inclusion, there was no promise made from him nor Bailey.
The Phoenix Academy owner also reiterated that certain conditions need to be met for Bailey’s return including matters of security, travel arrangements and accommodation.
