WATCH: Bus driver killed, 13 passengers injured in Font Hill crash
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica— A bus driver is dead and 13 passengers hospitalised following a crash on the Font Hill main road near the St Elizabeth/ Westmoreland border on Thursday.
Head of the St Elizabeth police, Superintendent Coleridge Minto said the crash happened about 4:00 am and involved a minibus.
“This motor vehicle was travelling in an easterly direction heading towards Black River. It is reported that the driver lost control of the vehicle which resulted in it overturning several times,” Minto said.
He said the driver and 13 passengers were taken to hospital where the driver was pronounced dead.
“A female passenger is reported to be seriously injured and is undergoing surgery,” Minto added.
The police chief is urging motorists to exercise caution.
“The Font Hill is one of the corridors which we continue to appeal to motorists to use with caution. We have had a number of serious accidents along this road. The investigation is ongoing at this time,” the police superintendent stated.
