Friday Evening in the City
There’s no disputing the fact that nightlife in Kingston is pretty impressive and we are always eager each year to not only unearth relatively new spots but to also check on what’s happening at the tried and proven.
A recent Friday night bar crawl kicked off at RawBar Restaurant & Lounge Ltd located at Barbican Road. Not yet a year old, RawBar opened on October 26, last year, and is a favourite spot of Food Awards judge Oneal Johnson. It did not disappoint. From the cocktails to the convivial nature of the team members, led by Sule Lynch, to the chill environment with Philip “PP” Palmer, guest jockeying at the turntable. It was all suitably charming. The real surprise was the outstanding fare until we discovered that Dawn Woodstock, who once fronted the much-sought-after Manor Deli, was a partner and that Dwight Clarke, one of late culinary doyenne Norma Shirley’s protégés was involved.
The one drawback is parking, but regulars seem unperturbed and park across the road.
Our suggestion is to come early and snag the best seats in the house to both people-watch and enjoy the city lights.
Prices and comfort bar foods will ensure you return again and again.
