Backward move Digicel
Dear Editor,
Recently, after turning on my television I saw that Digicel, my service provider, had carried out a system upgrade. However, since installing this upgrade, it has been total disaster.
With this new upgrade I am unable to rewind or pause a show. When I called Customer Care, I was informed that “this benefit is no longer available”. Why is this Digicel and why weren’t we informed? These are features that many of us love and have got used to over the years, and with just a click of a button to upgrade the system, they are now gone.
In my opinion, this upgrade is so backward that moving from one station to the next takes up to seven seconds. It takes so long that I wonder if the cable or internet is down because you are there just looking at a blank screen. When it finally comes on, you have no idea what show you are watching because this information is not displayed on the screen. There is absolutely no indication of the channel or the name of the show that is on this channel.
Additionally, with this new upgrade we have lost some of the stations that we had recently enjoyed, and the current remote control devices do not have the same functions.
Why are we experiencing all these challenges without any form of communication from Digicel? Why was the rewind, pause, and fast forward removed? Instead of a system upgrade, this is a system downgrade.
Minister Daryl Vaz, why can’t Jamaica get a new telecommunications provider? The two that we have here are just taking Jamaicans for granted.
